Famous American basketball coach Tim Notke once said, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” This means if you work hard, you can succeed even without being naturally gifted. Here are 10 people who prove that success comes from hard work, not just talent.
1. Roman Emperor Honorius
Recognized as one of the longest-reigning emperors in Roman history, Emperor Honorius ruled the empire for 3 decades. He inherited the throne from his father, Emperor Theodosius, who died when Honorius was just 10 years old. It’s how he ended up ruling the empire at the early age of 10.
Compared to previous emperors who got the throne because of their political skills and military prowess, Emperor Honorius got it because of his father. He was also a terrible emperor who prioritized his safety when enemies conquered Gaul and Britain, with Rome losing for the first time in 8 centuries.
2. Danielle Bregoli AKA Bhad Bhabie
Danielle Bregoli was a guest on Dr. Phil’s Show, as a problematic teenager along with her mom. She became famous for the unintelligible phrase she said on the show, “Catch [Cash] me outside, how bout that?”
Nothing changed with her troublesome personality after the show. She became a viral meme that made it possible to pursue a musical career despite having no talent. Her debut single “These Heaux” even reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
3. Sam Walton Heirs
Walmart’s Sam Walton’s seven heirs, including Rob, Alice, and Jim, along with their families, have a value of around 234 billion US dollars. Fifty percent of the Walmart conglomerate’s stock is owned by the heirs, most do not work under the company and choose to pursue their passion instead. Imagine being set up for financial success without doing anything.
4. Brooklyn Beckham
Brooklyn Beckham is the son of legendary footballer David Beckham and Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham. In 2022, he married Nicola Peltz, an American heiress whose father, Nelson Peltz, is a Jewish billionaire businessman. While he was regarded as a model, this English socialite is only known for one thing – being associated with famous people.
5. The Kardashian-Jenner
The Kardashian-Jenner family is comprised of matriarch Kris Jenner and her children Kourtney, Khloe, Kim, Kylie, Kendall, and Rob. They became popular due to their reality TV show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which started in 2007 and already has 20 seasons in total.
Many believe that this family does not deserve the fame they enjoy today. They don’t have any talent either in acting or singing, which will make you wonder how they became celebrities.
6. Scott Morrison
Former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has a degree in Marketing which made him qualify for the Department of Tourism. He got fired, though, due to issues of transparency in the department, which is a wonder how he was able to become the 30th Prime Minister of Australia from 2018 to 2021.
He was heavily criticized due to his mediocre response in the 2022 eastern Australian floods. He was easily replaced by Peter Dutton in the 2022 election.
7. DJ Khaled
DJ Khaled is part of the music industry, but he became popular because of one thing – shouting his name at the beginning and end of his performance. He appears to be talentless, especially if you listen to his latest albums, where he keeps shouting his name throughout the whole track. “DJ Khaled, we the best music” doesn’t sound good at all. Rather than adding appeal to the track, it just disrupts the beat and vocalist, running it in totality.
8. Donald Trump
Donald Trump is the 45th U.S. president, holding his position from 2017 to 2021. His entire term has been filled with controversies, from the rumored hush money for adult actress Stormy Daniels to keeping national defense information illegally in his residence at Mar-A-Lago.
Trump has been described as narcissistic and egocentric by many, with a lot of his political decisions based on his welfare. He doesn’t even have a good political background to explore.
9. Drake
Drake is a popular artist with viral songs, but it’s not that his voice is incredible. He always tries to show that he’s relatable and down-to-earth, saying he started from the bottom when he was born privileged. It’s why some people find him underwhelming, with songs still focused on getting girls when he’s already in his mid-30s.
10. Boris Johnson
Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson built his career by pretending to be clueless. Some people think he’s a narcissist and is the poster boy for a society built by privileged people. He made a loser out of the country and took society decades back in terms of social maturity and progress.
