Have you ever watched a really bad movie that made you shake your head and switch it off? Some movies are so disliked that people can’t stand to keep watching them.
Whether you walk out of the cinema or close your eyes and just sleep, here are some of the movies so bad that many people find them unwatchable.
1. Cats (2019)
Before this movie went to the cinemas, many were actually looking forward to it. Once it hits the market for viewing, many can’t help but be disappointed. Whether it’s because of the cringe-y acting or the overwhelming CGI effects, viewers are far from happy.
Many claimed to walk out of the cinema while it was still playing. One specific individual hilariously shared, “I remember the review – the worst thing to happen to Cats since dogs.”
2. The Last Airbender (2010)
Another major disappointment in the cinemas is the live-action rendition of the well-loved animated series The Last Airbender. With M. Night Shyamalan as the director, many had high expectations only to be incredibly let down.
Someone shared, “As a fan of the original animated series, I was excited to see a live-action adaptation, but the movie was a huge disappointment. The acting was wooden, the script was clunky, and the special effects were underwhelming. I made it about halfway through the movie before I decided that my time was better spent doing something else.“
3. Epic Movie (2007)
Epic Movie failed to live up to its name and was not epic at all. With a rate of 2% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s not surprising that many find the film “not just bad but aggressively bad.”
One shared, “I actually remember seeing a review that called it the movie equivalent of a tapeworm.” It must have been garbage.
4. Watchmen (2009)
Watchmen is another entry on this list. While it’s not as horrible as the others, many are turned off by how graphic it is, from the spine removal to the blue genitalia that was shown in the movie. While the scenes were entirely logical for this kind of rated-R novel, it was not received well by viewers.
Someone said, “I mean, there’s also the literal scenes and the full frontal comics part as well. Watchmen had a lot of it that I think about it. It’s rated R for real.”
5. The Emoji Movie (2017)
While it’s supposed to be a fun and heartwarming film, Emoji turned out to be as anti-climactic as the disappointed face emoji. The only thing that many people looked forward to is Patrick Stewart’s voice on the poop emoji, and even that was not able to carry the entire movie.
One individual jokingly claimed that “this was showing on a flight I was on, and people still walked out.”
6. Green Lantern (2011)
This movie is still considered the laughingstock in the DC universe that even Ryan Reynolds, the main actor in the film, does not want to be reminded he’s in it. Many users in the thread said that it was the price he had to pay to get his wonderful wife, Blake Lively.
One person claimed that “I would do anything for love, but I won’t do that,” while another believes that “[it’s] worth it for the jokes in the Deadpool films.”
7. Freaks (1932)
Freaks is another film entry on this list, and even if some may find it creative enough to be interesting, many see it as disgusting and exploitative. It features disability in film, which is quite a controversial topic in the first place.
Someone positively said, “It’s definitely worth watching. Oddly charming is a good way to put it. And worth it to see how far we’ve come with depictions of disability in media.”
8. Frozen (2010)
Frozen, the horror film and not the animated movie, is also on this list. This 2010 Adam Green psychological survival horror film is similar to Sophie’s Choice but in a wicked and twisted way.
One jokingly referred to the animated film on the thread and said, “I was talking to a 7-year-old family friend, and she’s scared of the rock trolls. It’s cute!”
9. The Butterfly Effect (2004)
While not the worst movie out there, The Butterfly Effect is a film that will make you want to walk out. Understanding the movie takes a lot of focus and can even trigger you to remember your nightmares, especially if you have a history of abuse in any form.
An individual explained, “That film was a hard, hard watch for anyone with any kind of abuse in their past. It was really well done, and the writing and acting were spot on.”
10. Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Jurassic World Dominion is another film that, while not that horrible, people were overhyped about it, and they ended up extremely disappointed.
Someone shared, “After 15 minutes, I knew exactly where the movie was going and hated the thought of sitting through so much more of it. I didn’t walk out, but this is the closest I’ve ever come.”
11. Jupiter Ascending
Jupiter Ascending sounds like an intriguing sci-fi action film but it wasn’t able to live up to its title. Whether it’s Eddie Redmayne’s inaudible whispers or Channing Tatum’s ridiculous character, many can say it’s a disappointing movie.
And yes, even Mila Kunis couldn’t save it.
