Fame is fickle, and no one knows this better than celebrities. Many last for decades in the industry, like Morgan Freeman and Tom Cruise. Some are one-hit wonders who, after going viral, became irrelevant. Some have made their impact in the industry and quietly made their exit.
1. Jet Li
Jet Li is a martial artist-turned-film actor and producer popular for his roles in “The One” in 2001 and “The Forbidden Kingdom” and “The Expendables” in 2008. This Chinese-born Singaporean actor started in Hollywood with “Lethal Weapon 4” in 1998, but his most recent work is his Chinese film in 2012 entitled “Tai Chi.” While there were several small roles in films after that, he remained behind the screen. He was discreetly involved in the making of “Mulan” in 2020.
There were rumors about the decline of his health in 2018. He dispelled those rumors in March 2023 and said he was in good health but decided to scale back on his projects in the industry.
2. Jason Lee
Jason Lee is popular for playing Earl Hickey, the lead of the TV comedy series “My Name Is Earl.” He was nominated for Golden Globes for Best Actor in a Comedy TV Series in the years 2005 and 2006.
The most recent project he was known for was his role as Dave in the movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” He was known to leave California in 2015 and Scientology in 2016. Currently, he’s scheduled to work on the Mallrats sequel.
3. Meg White
Megan Martha White, also known as Meg White, is the drummer of the popular duo The White Stripes. She’s one of the key artists responsible for the revival of garage rock in the 2000s. She was even named by Rolling Stone as one of the 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time.
Today, she has lived a quiet life away from the limelight in Detroit for almost 14 years. Her most current appearance was in 2009 during the Toronto International Film Festival.

The group LMFAO is an electronic dance duo consisting of Sky Blu and RedFoo. They formed their group in 2006 and started climbing the charts with their hit song “Party Rock Anthem” in 2011. With their indefinite hiatus announced in 2012, RedFoo released his 2016 album Party Rock Mansion. In 2021, they are still together as a duo performer but have yet to release a new song or album.
Gotye or Wouter André “Wally” De Backer is an Australian musician who popularized the song “Somebody That I Used To Know.” While some may call him a one-hit wonder, he still made it to the top of the 2012 Billboard Hot 100. The Basics, the trio band where he’s a founding member, announced their disbandment in 2021. He hasn’t performed as Gotye for a long time now.
7. Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz is an American actress popular for her roles in “The Mask” in 1994, “Something About Mary” in 1998, and “Charlie’s Angels” in 2000 and 2003. Her roles in movies and TV shows have a sexy reputation. In 2018, she announced her retirement from acting after her appearance in the movie “Annie.”
Since then, she focused on her organic wine brand, Avaline, which she introduced in 2020. She came out of retirement in 2022 to join the comedy-action film “Back In Action” for Netflix.
8. Shelly Miscavige
Shelly Miscavige is the wife of the leader of the Church of Scientology, David Miscavige. While her husband claims she’s healthy and doing well, she’s never been seen since August 2007. Her disappearance remains to be one of the mysteries until now. Church leaders also claim that since she’s not a public figure, everyone needs to respect her privacy.

Nelly Furtado is a Canadian singer and composer known for her hit songs “Turn Off The Light” and “I’m Like A Bird.” Her singles rocketed to Billboard Hot 100, and she even won a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Eric Per Sullivan was an American actor in his younger years, popular for his role as Dewey Wilkerson in the TV series “Malcolm In The Middle.” His last acting gig was with the movie “Twelve” in 2010.
Today, he keeps a low profile and distances himself from the industry, including social media abstinence. After spending his childhood years acting, he’s now living a simple and more normal life.
12. Renee Zellweger
Renee Zellweger is an American actor known for her innocent female lead sweetheart charm. She was widely known for her role as Bridget Jones in the hit comedy film “Bridget Jones’s Diary” in 2001 and the sequel in 2004, but her actual first lead role was in the slasher movie “The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre” in 1995.

13. Tom Anderson
